          In response to overwhelming requests for additional course work to build upon participants' knowledge, experience and skills, this thought provoking course will offer participants the opportunity to hone their skills in:

          • Moving through impasse
          • Understanding and communication, managing interpersonal dynamics, building relationships
          • Managing monetary negotiations, including mixed-motive exchanges and multi-party disputes
          • Dealing with difficult people and problems
          • Identifying opportunities to claim and create value
          • Working with psychological, emotional and inter-cultural factors

          Participants will have ample opportunity to put what they learn into practice by working through real world cases with personalized coaching, debrief and discussion.

          Teresa Carey is a leading Bay Area mediator and a pioneer in the field.  Drawing on over 25 years' experience as a mediator, arbitrator, and litigator, she is known for her pragmatic, skillful, and humanistic approach to conflict resolution and her outstanding abilities as a professional mediator and trainer.  Ms. Carey is one of the original founders of the Marin County Superior Court ADR program in 1992, the first court-connected mediation program in the State of California.  She is also the founder of Professional Mediation Associates, a network of leading conflict-resolution professionals, and is the former Chair of the Marin County Bar Association, ADR Section as well as The Mediation Society.
